Riders Are Voters Goes Live

Riders are Voters (RAV) officially goes live at The Carole Nash International Motorcycle and Scooter Show 2009 on Press Day 26th November 2009.

RAV is the cohesive voice of biking – supported by MAG, the BMF and the Motorcycle Industry to ensure a better deal for riders.

It’s an organic movement, so come along to the MAG stand at the NEC (Hall 2, CX10) and tell us what you want to see included.

Riders Are Voters is the evolution of the successful Bikers Are Voters campaign that the Motorcycle Action Group ran prior to the 1997 general election and at consecutive ones.

Because of the success of BAV, Riders Rights were taken seriously by national and local government. MAG and the BMF were instrumental in getting the Government to write a Motorcycle Strategy Document. This acted as a framework for local authority guidelines, providing advice to local authorities regarding the inclusion of bikes at all planning levels.

For the first time motorcycles were acknowledged as a distinctive group of road users.

Riders groups secured regular meetings with DfT, DSA and DVLA officials and helped write the Institute of Highway Engineers Motorcycling Guidelines which road engineers now refer to.

‘Riders Rights’ were reaching maturity but are still developing. The next step is now.

*So here’s the question*.

What would you like the next Government to do for motorcyclists?

If you were Prime Minister what would you do for riders?

Do you feel that no-one listens to you as a Rider?

RAV can be your voice in Westminster at this election. What do you want to say?

*Make a difference for biking @ the next general election, be listened to*.
